Life Insurance

Term, whole life, final expense, mortgage protection, indexed universal life and no-medical-exam coverage, placed with the carrier whose underwriting fits you rather than the one company a captive agent can offer.

Retirement & Rollovers

Your 401(k), IRA, 403(b) or 457(b) rollover options, laid out with the tradeoffs of each, including the ones we are not paid on. Income planning, and annuities where they fit: they carry surrender periods, liquidity limits and caps, and we say so.

Questions we hear a lot

Four things you have probably seen online

Short videos about retirement accounts tend to return to the same four subjects: an old 401(k), a monthly income figure, a 0% floor, and how to get more detail. Each one is a reasonable place to start. Here is the fuller picture on each, and the page that works through it.

  1. 01The old account

“If you have an old 401(k), do this.”

Most people who have changed jobs do have one, which is why this comes up so often. The first step is finding it, and the Department of Labor runs a free database for exactly that. Once you have found it, leaving it where it is remains one of your options.

    How to find it
  2. 02The monthly figure

“$300,000 could pay you this much a month, for life.”

Published answers for the same $300,000 run from $1,338 to $5,715 a month, and they can all be correct. What changes is the age, the payout option and when payments start. Hold those steady and the published figures agree within about 4%.

    What changes the number
  3. 03The 0% floor

“A zero percent floor means you cannot lose money.”

The floor is real and it does what it says: in a year the index falls, it credits zero rather than a negative return. Worth knowing alongside it is what else moves your balance, including surrender charges and terms the insurer can adjust at renewal.

    What the floor covers
  4. 04Getting the details

“Comment below and I'll send you the details.”

Those details are genuinely worth having: the seven-pay funding limit, a cost of insurance that rises with age, and what happens if a policy lapses with a loan against it. We have put all of it on one page, with the statute behind each point.

The questions we answer most

Independent, local, bilingual

You are not locked to one carrier's shelf

A captive agent can only offer what one company sells. Next Wave Options is appointed with multiple carriers, so a recommendation is built around your health, your budget and what you are protecting, not a product quota. We are licensed in California for life and annuity products, and we do not provide investment, tax or legal advice.

  • Multiple carriers compared side by side
  • Plain-English explanations, in English or Spanish
  • No cost and no obligation for a consultation

One page, in plain English, with the tradeoffs and the cost. Nothing is signed on the first call.

How it works

What happens when you call

  1. Step 1

    A free conversation

Fifteen to thirty minutes, by phone, video or in person. We listen first: your family, your budget, and what you are trying to protect or plan for.

  2. Step 2

    We compare the market

For coverage, we check the carriers we are appointed with. For a rollover, we lay out every option, including keeping your plan where it is.

  3. Step 3

    A recommendation you can read

One page, in plain English, with the tradeoffs and the cost. Nothing is signed on the first call.

  4. Step 4

    Reviews as life changes

A new job, a home, a retirement date: we revisit the plan when it matters, at no charge.

Questions

Before you call

Yes. There is no cost and no obligation.

No. Next Wave Options is independent and appointed with multiple carriers, so we compare options rather than sell one company's shelf.

A qualified rollover is tax-deferred, not tax-free. In a direct rollover you owe no tax at the time of the transfer, and withdrawals are taxed later. An indirect rollover has a 60-day deadline and is limited to once in any 12-month period.

No. Leaving your plan where it is is one of the four options, and we lay out all four with their tradeoffs. We never suggest leaving an employer or public retirement plan.

Yes. Consultations and paperwork walkthroughs are available in English and Spanish.
