Calculators are useful when they show their arithmetic and are honest about what they cannot know. Every tool on this site follows the same rules: the result appears on screen without an email address, the assumptions are printed next to the answer, nothing is stored in your browser, and no output is a quote. An insurance quote depends on your health, the carrier and the day; a calculator can only show you the shape of the answer, which is enough to have a useful conversation.
Two tools are live now. The rest are listed with what they will do and what has to be verified before they ship, because a tool built on figures we cannot source would be worse than no tool at all.
| Tool | What it does | What it assumes |
|---|---|---|
| Life insurance needs calculator | Adds up debt, income replacement, mortgage and education using the DIME method, then subtracts savings and existing coverage | Nothing but your own numbers. No rates are involved |
| Retirement income calculator | Compares essential monthly expenses with income guaranteed for life, applies California income tax, and shows the gap and what it would take in savings to close it | Your own figures, the FTB's 2025 California rate schedule, SSA life-expectancy and benefit figures, and Morningstar's safe withdrawal rate — each dated on the page |
It cannot tell you what a carrier will charge you, because that depends on underwriting: your health, your prescriptions, your occupation and the company's own rules, which differ. It cannot tell you which product fits, because that depends on why you need it and for how long. And it cannot account for the parts of your situation the form does not ask about, from a pension survivor election to a child with lifelong needs. Bring the number to a conversation and we will do the rest, in English or Spanish, at no cost.
No. Every tool shows the result on screen with no email, no phone number and no account. If you want a real quote afterwards, there is a button for that; using the calculator does not require it.
No. They are hypothetical illustrations based on the assumptions printed above each result. A quote comes from a carrier after underwriting, and it can differ substantially from any estimate.
No. The inputs stay in the page's memory while you use it and are gone when you close or reload it. Nothing is written to your browser's storage and nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to contact us.
Because they depend on figures we have not yet verified: current carrier rate cards and payout figures, or local funeral price lists. We would rather ship two tools that are honest than eight that are guesses.
Rate-sensitive tools will carry an “as of” date and be refreshed on a stated cadence: quarterly for rate charts and annually for local cost data. The date will always be visible on the page.
Yes, and it is free. Bring whatever figures you have, or none, and we will build the worksheet with you by phone, video or in person in Salinas, in English or Spanish.
Ready to talk it through? No cost, no obligation, in English or Spanish.
